Acupuncture
Acupuncture for pain, hormone balancing, and more
Acupuncture, a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is over 5,000 years old, uses fine, sterilized disposable needles, which are inserted through the skin to stimulate the body’s own healing process. Chinese medicine is a complete system that works to correct imbalances or disharmonies in the body and mind by creating balance of qi (pronounced “chee”) or energy, and in turn, restores health and well-being.
This ancient modality is widely accepted today for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. It is very effective for the treatment of pain, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, infertility, digestive disorders, nausea, fibromyalgia, headaches, back pain, osteoarthritis, dental pain, stroke rehabilitation, asthma, and more. In fact, research studies conducted by the National Institute of Health (NIH), a branch of our federal government, shows that acupuncture is an effective treatment modality in many of the above-mentioned conditions.
In TCM, we diagnose the imbalance with pulse and tongue diagnosis paired with a review of your current complaints and symptoms. The goal of an acupuncture treatment is to restore imbalances and create internal harmony. A treatment can last from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the condition being treated. Typically, 8 to 16 needles are used per treatment. Points can be used on the body, face, and ears and is relatively painless. The number of treatments is dependent on the severity of the problem and an individual’s response. Acupuncture not only can treat multiple symptoms and complaints at a time but is focuses on treating the whole person, creating balance, and releases endorphins making you feel calm and at peace. It is one of the best modalities for pain and for infertility.
An extension of auricular or ear acupuncture is acupressure. We also offer ear seeds used for auricular (ear) acupressure to continue benefits or your treatment strategy between visits.
